The Immotal Plant

Mesopotamia was the first civilization in human history. It had short mythology, telling stories about Gilgamesh, a hero and a king who sought an immortal plant to be alive forevermore. Experiencing numerous difficulties, Gilgamesh finally found the immortal plant. He took a bath before eating it, and as the consequence, the plant was eaten by a snake that was eager for long-living. Gilgamesh made great efforts to find the immortal plant, whose action represents Mesopotamians’ desire for immortality. However, Gilgamesh’s dramatical failure signifies that neither the aristocrats nor the populace could live forever. I think that’s a good lesson to learn. All we are supposed to do is to use happiness and knowledge to enrich every day.
