Here’s My Treasure!

I strongly believe sea animals deserve to ride roller coasters too. Pink rails twist freely out from the central treasure chest, while a starfish and sea turtle wave at each other from passing car-heads. The chest itself comes from my childhood obsession with collecting “treasures,” from beach stones to plastic gems. Inside, I placed a jellyfish I once kept and later gave a small funeral, resting peacefully rather than trapped as property. I made the lower half intentionally busy, filling it with jewel-like corals, differentiating the saturated colors from the fish and bubbles on the top. Undersea life is busier than I could ever imagine—I haven’t drawn prokaryotes yet! Watercolor-pencil overlays and white highlights add bubbly textures and make everything shimmer. A secret, joyful celebration exclusively visible to children’s imagination.
