Death Views

Accordion Book

This project contains eight paintings arranged sequentially in an accordion book, examining ideas of death and immortality. Dividing the drawings into four pairs, I alternated between ancient and modern cultural perspectives: one featuring how ancient people pursued physical immortality, another one on how modern people focused on spiritual immortality and present well-being. Each page shifts in color, composition, and symbolism while recurring techniques—collage, acrylic markers, digital drawing, and handmade elements—sustain a coherent feeling under various styles. The book, in the end, returns to a circular view of life and death. Since none of us living human beings can answer questions about death, I want to explore the many ways we have learned to live alongside it. Hope you enjoy this journey about death views!
